The Rules of Netpreneuring - Bitter Truths about Making Money Online

It’s so amazing how many calls and mails I get from various categories of people eager to make cool money on the internet. Truth be told, there are a lot of people who are latching on to this stream of wealth creation. However, one question I get from 90 percent of these people is ‘Is it really true that one can make money online?’

Over the years, we have heard different things about building internet wealth. Some of them corroborate the truth, while the rest are in sharp contrast to reality. If you are a beginner or you’ve been around for a while with no results to show for it. The following are bitter truths which a lot of people may never tell you about netpreneuring.

  • Don’t be deceived, you are not likely to make money the minute you start off any online venture. Like every other wealth creation vehicle, it takes time and demands patience. Unfortunately, most sales letters and marketing sites tell us to pay some money for books, tools and discoveries and start making money immediately. A lot of novices because of their get-rich-quickly mentality jump at such offers, pay some hard earned cash for the ‘magic formula’ and still do not make money.

I understand how frustrating it is for you to roam the internet for months and still not make a dime. Yet, if you must succeed in this venture, you must adopt the adage, ‘the patient dog eats the fattest bone’.

  • Ignorance has a price. Like every other wealth stream, every novice has a price to pay. It takes quite a while before you find and know the truth- what works and what doesn’t. the fact that you have lost some money to failed systems and products is not enough reason for you to quit. You see, in every industry, the novice pays for his ignorance. However, you can minimize the price you pay by scrutinizing the offers and opportunities presented to you on the internet.
  • Don’t get caught in the feeder trap. Don’t wait for people to feed you fish, rather, learn to fish and feed others. If you must become an authority and build expertise in running online businesses, you must set yourself free from the dependency web. Learn the ropes so that you may become a coach someday.
  • Become a researcher. If you want to go far as a netpreneur, you must master the art of researching. A lot of things that people sell online are available for free on the web. But then, the wise is bound to teach and lead the foolish. Which are you?
  • Success has a price. Ensure that you don’t become an FOC (free-of-charge) maniac. Some of the tools and information that will turn your fortunes around are available only at a price. If you really want to get uncommon information then be prepared to pay the price. The time a lot of people spend searching for free stuff online could have been spent generating serious cash if only they had paid to get the information. Don’t be stingy. Remember, there is he that scatters and yet increases.
  • Don’t spend money you don’t have and can’t afford to lose.
  • Establish benchmarks for measuring your performance. It is important for you to know what works and what doesn’t. Set goals that can help you achieve your desired results.
  • Become a fast learner. There is a lot to learn. You must be really quick to learn.
  • Trying won’t kill you. Even if you fail, you would have learnt how not to do business.
  • Be adventurous and take calculated risks.
  • Be smart. When I see adverts from infopreneurs on magazines, I look beyond what they are offering and try to dig out the source of their information. You must be a fast thinker. A lot of times nobody will say, ‘this is it’ It is always left for you to figure out the real thing. Be able to put 2 and2 together to arrive at 4.
